Ashaka Givens

Ashaka Givens is an African American designer, milliner, and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores adornment, ceremony, protection, and transformation. Formally trained in fashion design at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, with additional studies in tailoring and couture techniques in England, she creates handcrafted hats and ceremonial crowns for collectors and cultural figures including Erykah Badu, Wangechi Mutu, Nina Chanel Abney, Erika Alexander, and Grammy Award winner Rapsody. Inspired by African symbolism and traditional craftsmanship, Givens' work blends thoughtfully sourced natural materials with contemporary design to create pieces that invite the wearer to feel adorned, protected, and empowered.
