symplee Tuft

Marie Martine Lamarre is a Haitian-American textile artist and founder of SympleeTuft Studio in Englewood, New Jersey. A self-taught artist, she discovered tufting in 2023 after years in nursing, embracing art as a space for creativity, self-expression, and freedom. In 2025, she founded SympleeTuft Studio, where she creates one-of-a-kind, hand-tufted textile portraits inspired by culture, identity, music, and the richness of the Black experience. Using bold color, sculptural texture, and custom-built frames, her work transforms yarn into striking visual narratives that celebrate connection and individuality. Marie's work has been featured at the Black Girl Art Show in Washington, D.C. (August 2025), the Black Girl Art Show in Atlanta (December 2025), and the Harlem Fine Arts Show (February 2026). In July 2026, she will exhibit at the Harlem Fine Arts Show Summer Festival in Sag Harbor, continuing to explore the intersection of contemporary textile art, culture, and storytelling.
